Biography of Luisa Valmori-Sen

Luisa was born in Florence where she won a scholarship to study piano, composition, harmony and counterpoint at the L. Cherubini Conservatoire. There she obtained her teaching diploma and furthered her studies under Rossana Bottai. She was tutored by Carlo Zecchi at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and by Alfred Cortot at the Chigiana Music Academy in Sienna.

Luisa taught the piano in schools and gave concerts around Italy and the UK as well as for broadcast on Italian radio (RAI). A critic wrote after her concert for Amici della Musica in Rome, “Luisa has demonstrated her subtleties and imaginative interpretation by her delicate touch, mature technique and an outstanding musicianship...”.

Luisa won several competitions and was an experienced performer and accompanist. She took part in masterclasses given by performers such as Edith Vogel, Gordon-Fergus Thompson and Paul Roberts.

Luisa was on the jury of the EPTA National Piano Festival in Tirana, Albania and gave masterclasses and recitals in India and Italy.
